Travelogue

DJ Victim's Travelogue will bring up to date news, stories, interviews, photos with many of his personal favorite musicians.  He travels quite often with the hopes of meeting the many bands that nurtured his music knowledge throughout his youth.  DJ Victim is a firm believer in supporting the musicians you spin as a DJ.  Many of these musicians' songs have left impressionable memories with many listeners and fans.  DJ Victim hopes to bring some of the thoughts closer to these fans with his Travelogue.  Stay tuned for new travel adventures.

Interview with 20GOTO10 Coming soon!!!!!

Interview with Jon Sonnenberg of Travelogue conducted at Autobahn 2005 in Wilmington, OH

Q1.  As you continue to make cds and eps, do you come up with the new sleeve artwork based upon the theme of the cd?  A specific lyric? A specific song?

A1.  Many of the themes for the cds, songs, or lyrics come from life experiences.  Photographs or artwork may have then been generated during those life experiences that reflect the theme or lyrical content.  The new sleeve artwork is then chosen many time by my wife Mandy from the vast catalogue of photographs or artwork.   These images are the ones that sum up the feeling and emotion of Travelogue's new musical material.

Q2.  Once you decide to record new material for a possible full length cd, do you feel a theme must exist?  Or does one forme once the track order has been laid out?

A2.  Yes to both questions actually since the music is recorded with a general idea in mind.  A theme can be anything.  The track order might be based around a transitional beat structure, for instance.  Or, if the songs were written based on a life experience for example like "Hospital" (written after my stay in a hospital), then an obvious theme exists.   In the earlier example, the original theme for my new album (which is still partially the theme) is based on tempos.  Most of the rhythms for the next album are based on multiples of each other.

Q3.  For the instrument tech heads out there, over the years what instrument, equipment, computer program, etc. would you recommend has been crucial in your catalogue of music?

A3.  The modular synth has played a major part in the Travelogue music catalogue.  Both analog synths and digital synths have been used throughout my musical career, but I exclusively use all analog synthesizers for Travelogue.

Q4.  What are the future plans for Travelogue?

A4.  Travelogue will most likely always continue to perform live but remain somewhat small in the sense of working out of a home studio.  I am also looking forward to more exposure via marketing tools and additional live shows in the coming years.  I will continue to release new material but I do have other pursuits as well which permits me to work at my own pace.

Q5.  What are you top two musical influences?

A5.  Fad Gadget and Xymox!!!!!

Q6.  Bonus Question-The Fun One.  What is your favorite Winona Ryder movie?

A6.  With no question.....Lucas....because Winona was adorable even when she was so young.
